Simon will know firsthand, but it’s basically a room of people that monitor missions, astronauts, and equipment. They chat to astronauts and keep space activities going and coordinated.

Mission control is a big room where all the controllers sit at computers can monitor the space station or space mission currently going on. There are lots of people in the room all watching a different system to make sure everything is okay. They can talk to the astronauts to let them know how things are going and what the astronauts need to be doing.

There is a really nice website where you can learn about mission control and sometimes access live ISS data here: http://isslive.com/
