      Hi 844nch28!

Great question! Probably the most important element of the Voyager spacecraft that keeps them working after all these years in deep space (around 40years now) are their main power/heat source. Each probe has an RTG: Radioisotope thermoelectric generator. Basically you generate heat and electricity from the energy released from a naturally radioactive substance:

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radioisotope_thermoelectric_generator

This is important since the Voyager spacecraft are so far away from our Sun and any other star that they cannot use solar panels and batteries alone wouldn’t last more than a few days as you have probably noticed from your household torch.

RTGs are the standard power source for all deep space probes for this reason.

      Any other questions ;-)?

Simon’s answer was awesome! Dont think I can add much to that. Sooo, here is a cool video of some things most people probably dont know about the Voyager probes!
