Possibly. There’s a really interesting engine NASA is working on called the EM Drive. But it’s also nicknamed the ‘impossible engine.’ It seems to violate one of the most basic laws of physics. So, maybe one day we’ll have space ships flying with impossible engines. 🙂

I think technology has advanced a long way already in the last 100 years from not being able to even fly. We learned how to fly short distances, then we learned to fly across the oceans, then we built jet engines and rockets. We made air travel safe and good enough that we all take it for granted and fly around all the time. We have learned to live in space and built a space station for 6 people to live on all the time. So in another 100 years, maybe we could even build something really awesome to explore futher and faster than we do and it could be a little bit like star wars. Although I hope we dont turn into an evil empire and hope noone ever makes a death star!

      Hey Cakeking!

For me its all about breaking the light barrier. If we cant do this then we wont ever have spaceships like in Star Wars or be able to colonize the Galaxy….

Perhaps we will make the break through in the near future just like Zefram Cochrane does in 2063 in another science fiction universe 😉 (one of my favourite sci fi scenes ever!:

      Hi @cakeking!

Interestingly, one of the most effective ways for astronauts to keep safe and healthy in space is to have gravity recreated so that they are still exposed to its “pull” effect (our bodies mainly suffer because of the lack of this pull). One of the best ways to recreate gravity would be to have a rotating/spinning spacecraft like the film Space Odyssey. Unfortunately right now, there are too many factors that limit something like this being created, but you never know! One day it might be possible!
